That is just sad. Sounds to me like THEY are the ones that need to be put in restraints and slapped around a little…

How any one can treat any child that way is beyond me. All the more reason to homeschool is for sure!

It would be great if homeschool did solve the problem but parents are also harming their own children with autism, group homes are neglecting, losing, and outright murdering patients with autism, even churches performing excorcisms on those with autism are causing death.  Anyone that does a daily search of yahoo news under the key word autistic is bound to find at least a couple of cases each week of this sort of thing.  I am terrified for my son’s future once I am no longer around to care for him or grow too old to do so.  Who will keep him safe?  If we aren’t going to search for a “cure” or better edcuations and medical treatment and we aren’t going to demand better assisted care facilities, laws and actual enforement of laws to protect these people then the abuse, neglect, and murders will only continue.  If it can happen to these children then it can happen to our children. Not everyone CAN homeschool.  Greater advocacy across all lines are needed to protect all developmentally disabled citizens.

@Sarah: Through correct decisions and possible sacrifices, almost everyone can homeschool. You are arguing that because there are some morons harming their own children (like the schools do/have done), that homeschooling doesn’t solve the problems mentioned. That is an irrelevant conclusion (ignoratio elenchi), and possibly falling into being a straw man.
