#162 Rubic’s Cube exploration. Zane found some Rubic’s cube demos on YouTube this afternoon and spent over an hour watching videos on how to create different designs and then reset it.

#160 The Two Roberts. My folks came up today when our Mountaineer wouldn’t start. (It was fine, just needed a new battery, and our unemployment insurance came in the afternoon mail so we didn’t even have to borrow money). When Grandma was reading “Walter and the Farting Dog” to Zora, she insisted that it wasn’t the two robbers, but the two Roberts. One of the guys does resemble Robert….sort of. lol.

#159 Polygon Drawing. Zane’s current obsession is determining what is and isn’t a polygon. He drew a whole bunch of drawings that resembled the polygon pictures in the Miquon math book, then drew this picture, describing which shapes are polygons and which aren’t.

the focus wasn’t quite right, but I still like this one too…
One more game of Carcassonne with the kids today. It was a lot of fun.

#154 Five Kids in the School Room
Robert & his kids came over for the afternoon and overnight. The kids had a blast. We made homemade pizza, played Carcassonne, and watched movies.
The princesses and their Daddys head to the store for supper ingredients.

#151 The Knight Token for the win.
The Catan Card game is SO much fun. We were saving it to play in Germany, but that’s not happening, so we broke it out tonight. It is for two players, unlike the regular Catan game (which is for a group), and is a nice combination of (some) luck and (mostly) strategy. It moves fairly fast once you get the hang of it. You have to get 12 “victory points” and if you earn the knight token (by having the strongest knights) it is worth one of the 12 points.

Mom and Dad came up to loan us the money for Zane’s Nintendo DS. While the guys were out at the local Gamestop, Zora got some Oma snuggles.
While they were here, anybody who knows my dad will get a kick out of the fact that he couldn’t help but try and fix the backhoe toy (one of the hydraulic lifts isn’t working right). He runs the real thing for the township.
