Some recent chalk drawings by Zane

Duck

Mystery Drawing (not sure what this is, but I think he means it to be “something”)

eta:  We think it is the touch lamp from Mom’s house that Zane was facinated with. It is the same shape and it was on a geometric rug that the design at the bottom of the lamp resembles.

House

Hot Sauce Fiend

and finally, in reference to yesterday’s post, a picture of Zane bringing me his hot sauce and crackers.  He lines up his crackers and wants us to put a dot (or five) of hot sauce on each cracker.

    A boat? A lamp?

He draws almost well as Faith who is about 2 years his senior. I think she’s pretty typical of how well a 4 year old can draw? Her drawing ability took off in the last 4 months or so. And Abby who is 6 months older than he is can’t do more than straight line scribbles, no drawings at all.

He’s brilliant Jen, just like his parents…

    Miss yall btw :-)

Sean wants to know what did Zane say the mystery drawing was?

Third and hopefully final comment LOL

Sean thinks maybe a commercial building of some sort… strip mall, restaurant etc, and the large angular bit in the foreground could be a sign. He also wants me to say that is of course pure speculation.

No idea what the middle drawing is and he doesn’t answer when we ask.  We know the others because he quacked while drawing the duck, and he got really excited when we guessed the drawings with both the duck and house, but never got that excited look while guessing the other one.  He still doesn’t talk enough to communicate what he is drawing…I guess he got tired of us guessing wrong so instead of learning to tell us, he learned to draw better so we would guess right.  lol.

Hey, Jennifer, the mystery pix might be the lamp at our house! I’ll bet feebeeglee is right! He was totally fascinated with the ‘touch on…touch off’ lamp. Maybe he’s telling you he wants to go out to gramma’s HOUSE and play with gramma’s LAMP!!??!

    That works for me<grin>.

    Love you!

He is 2 years, 8 months old.  I am shocked at the sophistication of his drawings.  I saw a happy face I did when I was exactly a year older than he is tonight and was amazed to realize that Zane was drawing like that 6 months ago.  I had an Aunt and Uncle, both teachers, that told my mom I was way ahead of the norm for drawing at the time too, so seeing the comparison was staggering to me.
